Stunning pictures of a lioness saving her cub from falling to its death taken by
wildlife photographer Jean-Francois Largot at Kenya's Masai Mara game reserve in August 2011.
A cub slipped down a cliff, her mother tries to help the little one but the cliff is too steep. |
Other member of the pride also wants to help but think it's too steep. |
Just as the cub appears to lose his grip, the mother cub slowly circles beneath him and snatches him in her jaws. |
The lioness snatches the cub in her jaws and climbs back to the top. |
Finally they get to the top. |
Safe and sound, she gives the cub a loving lick on the head. |

That was very touching. I just watched Hatchiko about an hour ago and these photos remind me of him. The animals' loving instinct are really amazing.

That was amazing. I didn't expect that the Lioness will save her cub.Nice capture too by the photographer. Look at the reaction of the other members of the pride. That was touching.
ReplyDeleteThis is really amazing and we can see how a true mother will react if her child will be in danger. She may be an animal or a woman. :) It's a very special moment captured on photos.
ReplyDeleteVery good shoot! The pictures tell an adventurous story for the lions. The world is just awesome.
ReplyDeleteI find this unimpressive without knowing how far down the "cliff" goes. For all I know the base of this cliff has been cropped from just under the Cub. I like the nature aspect of the photo but I find the omission of a zoomed out picture of the Cliff is suspiciously glaring. I do not know a professional photographer who would Omit a zoomed out picture for scaling purposes. I therefore deduce this is deception.
